The Pendel marionette courses

Marlene Gmelin and Detlef Schmelz know from experience how complex the impact of marionettes on people can be. In order to pass on this knowledge, they have been offering courses in marionette playing for many years.

They have been giving seminars on puppeteering for many years. Over time, this has lead to the creation of many puppet theatresand smaller playing initiatives in Germany and in neighbouring countries that perform a wonderful variety, often on a high level, and always with Pendel puppets.

So it made sense to organise a puppet festival as the culmination of the puppeteering courses. This takes places every two years in Hohebuch, Baden-Württemberg and shows the impressive magic of puppetry.
